Chatty Boy Basking

A$840.00

53 × 53cm Acrylic on canvas

A chatty dingo sits beside the water, soaking up the last light of the day as the landscape hums around him. Painted in electric blues, fiery reds, and sunburnt oranges, this piece captures that feeling of basking in the sun, warm, still, and completely content.

I’ve always been intrigued by dingoes; the quiet mystery of them, the fact they’ve existed in Australia for thousands of years, and how unlike most dogs, they rarely bark. They seem to drift in and out of headlines for simply by being themselves, wild and probably misunderstood. Growing up, the Lindy Chamberlain story sat somewhere in the background of Australian culture too, adding to that strange fascination and fear people attach to dingoes.

This work feels like a softer reflection on them. A dingo sitting peacefully in the landscape it has belonged to long before us.
