The version of Bondi I knew when I was twenty-seven. A bit brighter. A bit quieter. Probably not geographically perfect. I didn't want to paint Bondi exactly as it looks; I wanted to paint the feeling I carry around of it.
The ridiculous, glassy blue on those rare 'perfect' beach days. The buildings stacked haphazardly up the hill. That constant, rhythmic drift between the sand, the coastal path, the cafés, and the sea.
Bondi holds different memories for so many people. In recent years, it carries some deeply painful ones too. I don't think the darker parts of a place's history should ever be smoothed over or forgotten, but I do think places are always bigger than any single moment in time.
People return to the water. They gather. They swim. They lie in the sun. They insist on making new memories right alongside the old ones.
Maybe that's why I wanted this piece to be so aggressively full of life. It’s what happens when nostalgic affection and a decade of distance collide.
Nearly ten years after I called it home, here is my little love letter to Bondi.

I've always loved Dalmatians, though I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe it's because they look like someone got bored halfway through painting them. Maybe it's because they somehow manage to be both elegant and ridiculous at the same time. Whatever the reason, they've occupied a disproportionate amount of real estate in my imagination for years.
I also love dinner.
Not food necessarily, although that's part of it. I love the ritual of dinner. The gathering. The chairs being pulled out. The stories that get told when people finally stop rushing somewhere else. Dinner is one of the few remaining activities that asks nothing of us except that we be present.
This painting is what happens when those two affections collide.
A Dalmatian sitting at a dinner table feels completely absurd until you think about it for a moment. Then it feels obvious. Dogs have mastered something most of us spend years trying to learn. They arrive exactly as they are. No performance. No pretence. No concern for whether they're saying the right thing or wearing the right thing. They're just delighted to have been invited.
And maybe that's what I like about the image.
The dog isn't there because it belongs at the table. It's there because it wants to be. Because dinner, at its best, isn't about status or manners or getting everything right. It's about belonging. It's about making room for one more story, one more chair, one more unexpected guest.
Also, if you've ever owned a dog, you'll know they were going to end up at the table eventually anyway

Painting places as I remember them.
My paintings begin with places that stick.
Beaches, backyards, weatherboard houses, swimming holes, roadside stops and landscapes passed a hundred times without much thought, until suddenly they mean everything.
Working with bold colour, simplified forms and a little bit of exaggeration, I paint less from how a place looks and more from how it feels to remember it.

My mural practice takes the ideas I explore in the studio and blows them up, sometimes very, very big.
From public spaces and community projects to hospitality, workplaces and unexpected walls, I create site-specific work that responds to the people, stories and landscape surrounding it.
I work collaboratively from concept through to installation, creating murals that feel like they belong exactly where they land.

What happens when you paint an entire house?
In 2026, I set myself the slightly ridiculous task of transforming an entire house into one immersive artwork.
Side Quest Stories grew into something much bigger.
Part art project, part documentary and part experiment in what creativity can do when life doesn't go to plan, the project explores the unexpected things we reach for to rebuild, reconnect and find ourselves again.
Every wall, ceiling, floor and forgotten corner became part of the story.
